sudo hangs after macOS upgrade (Sierra 10.12.4 Public Beta x)

Okay, so lately in Jan 2017 I upgraded to macOS Sierra 10.12.4 as I have the bug to stick to latest and the greatest…. and, hell broke loose!! really!

No sudo !!

Yes, no SUDO! No matter how much I yelled, how much I looked on the internet .. NO SUUUDOOOOOO !

If you are the average windows user kind of mac user, you can pass this post .. 😀

Anyhoo, long story short.

“Upgrade your sudo”

In my opinion there is a bug in the sudo version that ships with 10.12.4 or there is a compatibility mismatch or Apple forgot some missing piece with the sudo (.. similar to the half apple logo :p )

Okay enough, just go here and install the latest sudo – https://www.sudo.ws/download.html#binary

I installed sudo-1.8.19p2.pkg and got my peace back .. yes sudo

The long story, sudo didn’t work with Beta 1, searched a lot and came across this post and was happy that someone else was facing the problem too. No Solution. Waited for another Beta. Beta 2 came in. No thing fixed. Searched internet, and came across this post, there were some tips. Kept my patience and tried everything, including the ulimit 709. Nothing worked. Read numerous old posts on sudo misbehaving. Nothing helped. Banged my head against the wall (yeah I am kidding) and thought of replacing sudo from brew. Yeah, I know it was stupid. Went online looking for source code of sudo. Did find it here – https://www.sudo.ws/sudo.html . Later upon reading on the website, I found the binary packages too.. And Yay! like you did now! lol 🙂

I tried and it worked for me. Hoping this helps you too!

If this post saved your precious time and if that amount to some $$ … yes, there is a donation link at the top! “Apple” I hope you are reading the post! 😀
